Development and prospect of bio-based aromatics FDCA & PEF
——Luo Zhao, Deputy General Manager, Hangzhou Leaf Biotechnology Co., Ltd.

In his report, Mr. Luo Zhao introduced that the petrochemical industry currently contributes nearly 40% of global greenhouse gas emissions, significantly driving climate change and threatening human survival. In addition, it also causes harm to the air, oceans, soil, animals, plants, and human health-including multiple forms of pollution, species extinction, and health risks. A significant portion of the petrochemical monomers, plastics, and fibers used by humans belong to the aromatic family. To address this, Leaf Bio is actively expanding the application of furan-based materials in areas such as polyesters (PET bottle chips, fibers, films), polyamides (nylon, engineering plastics), polyurethanes (elastomers, adhesives, foam materials), and specialty chemicals. Currently, Leaf Bio is the only company in the world with a kilo-ton scale production capacity for furan-based materials. In the future, Leaf Bio will continue to reduce costs through capacity expansion and process optimization. Mr. Luo Zhao also introduced Leaf Bio's relevant awards and product applications.
