The global chemical fiber industry is undergoing a period of profound structural transformation. 2026 marks the first year of China's 15th Five-Year Plan, as well as a pivotal moment for the chemical fiber sector to redefine growth pathways amid economic transition, policy recalibration, and accelerating technological change.

As the backbone of China's chemical fiber industry, polyester stands at a critical inflection point. Capacity expansion is set to continue, with fiber demand expected to return to a normalized growth trajectory. Meanwhile, upstream capacity cycles are diverging: PX and PTA expansions remain relatively constrained, while MEG enters a new commissioning phase. These mismatches are intensifying supply-demand dynamics across the value chain.

Against the backdrop of structural overcapacity and margin redistribution, "anti-involution" policy orientation and industrial upgrading, slower global economic recovery and heightened geopolitical uncertainty, key questions emerge:
How will the polyester industrial chain rebalance and evolve?
